UK ONLY: Have you opened a Child Trust Fund with your £250 voucher from the government? We Answered:
I opened an account with Nationwide. I have paid nothing into this account myself as the child has full access to the savings at 18. I pay all the child benefit money into a child account, the interest is tax free. This is an account I can control. I will not tell my daughter of its existence until I am certain that she won't blow the lot of drugs and booze. I did a spreadsheet a while back, if you save all the Child Benefit, with compound interest it should reap around £36K after 18 years. That will help a lot with university fees when the kids need it. If you pay it into the Child Trust Account your child can do with it just as they wish when they turn 18.Bradley Said:
how do i check my childs government trust fund balance? We Answered:
Your CTF provider should provide you with a yearly statement on or around your child's birthday, if you want more then one you can request them from whom ever your hold the account with. You'll need your child Reference/account number, should be on any letter you've received from them if not they can probably track it down themselves. But it's likely you'll be charges a small fee for doing so, no more then about £5. As far as im aware there is no way of checking online or over the phone but like any other account they have to provide statements on request though they are allowed to charge for this.Dustin Said:
Government trust funds?We Answered:
The statement is out of context, so it's hard to evaluate it.In the case of the U.S., there is really no such thing as a trust fund. The government does not really put aside money for specific purposes. Instead, it buys U.S. securities, which allows the government to spend the money in other ways.
It's equivalent to opening up a checking account, and then giving yourself a loan with the checking account balance!

How do i recover money supposedly from an unclaimed fund, a government trust account, without the middleman? We Answered:
Most of those letters are scams.Lester Said:
How do I go about acessing my government trust fund?We Answered:
The details of this should be spelled out very clearly in the trust documents. If you do not have them, as you were a minor at the time, the court should have appointed a guardian or your parents should have them. But the details will be spelled out.
