It is very difficult to get a funded only place at the nursery as the government funding does not cover even half of the costs of running the nursery (i mean private nursery for example). If you are looking for proper education for your child, you can try a private nursery that will offer you a place but you will need to pay top up fees to cover educational equipment, qualified staff etc. If you are only looking for free place, it will have to be a playgroup where children do not really learn, just play... Once your son has turned 3 he is then entitled to 5 sessions (a session is classed as 2.5 hours) a week in the next term (which would be September. Don't assume it is free though, I think it is generally about £8, not sure whether it is different in different areas of the UK. So if your nursery charges more than that for 2.5 hours then you will still need to pay the shortfall. You need to speak to your nursery as they give you the forms to complete, they send them off and claim it on your behalf as it is paid directly to them..Ralph Said:
