The federal government already spends billions of dollars subsidizing universities, whether it be money for teachers salaries, buildings, or the millions of dollars provided for research. The cost of tuition picks up only a small portion of the tab.Aside from that, I honestly feel that there are many people who are not deserving or would not make the best of the education provided. Scholarships and government grants are available for people who have worked hard and earned the opportunity, but to hand it over to everyone for free is insane.
Keep in mind that you may be funding someones desire to paint or be involved in the arts which do not advance society enough to justify the cost. Perhaps if everyone were taking physics, biology, or computer sciences in order to contribute in a meaningful way post grad it would be a different story.
Also, the amount of people in college is at the highest its ever been. In fact a BA or BS degree is essentially required now for low level jobs and a Masters or Doctorate is needed to advance up the ladder.

the NEA is a teacher union...not govt run or non-profit...they lobby for the rights of teachers...
if govt funding did not exist, it wouldn't matter, they would keep fighting for better pay and better student to teacher ratios...

wow Kev you don't have to call people names who disagree with you lol money in education is not the problem. No time in history have we thrown more money to a over bloated government program with such bad results. It's because government has no buisness in education other then on a local level. The more hands the money goes through and sticks to the less there is left for where it was inteded to go in the first place.
