Why is the government funding the National Endowment for the Arts while children are starving to death? We Answered:
Where in the US are there starving children? Have you heard of food banks? Churches? Missions? Food stamps, welfare? There aren't starving children here. And if you are going to say all of the other countries, who said it is our responsibility to feed the world? Why not send them condoms and convince the Catholic church that their "view" is condemning millions of people to lives of poverty? We already provide more than 22x the aid of any other nation, and if you take Britain, Canada and France out of the running, we provide more than 60 TIMES as much as all other nations added together. That is nations like China, India, Saudi Arabia, Russia... add it up. It is pennies.Alexander Said:

Why should the government fund the Arts?We Answered:
I agree with you on not having my taxes go to fund things I don't like. What passes for "art" today is insulting to the great artists of yesterday. I can take 6 cans of paint and throw them at a canvas too!I think the Gov. SHOULD fund the art in it's buildings and courtyards. Have you ever seen the Capital Building in Washington DC? The art in there is amazing and I was very proud of this country when I saw all the statues and paintings. It was awesome but those kids of places are the ONLY places I think you and I should pay for!

Does government funding threaten the integrity of the arts?We Answered:
Without thinking too long or too deeply, my first response is yes, government funding will threaten the integrity of the arts. It appears that any time the government provides funds for an entity, the government then wants to direct that entity boxing it in with rules, regulations, and endless paperwork. Do artists want to have to follow government regulations? The only pro that I see is that there would be money available for those who create but at what cost?

Government Arts Funding? Why Should the Government Fund the Arts?We Answered:
That's a very interesting and controversial question. After all,are government officials qualified to judge art? How can they decide what to fund without making judgements about art?
So there are good arguments to be made that the government should stay out of the arts and let the public decide.
Yet,if government doesn't fund the arts how do you promote art and culture in education and civic society?
It's a sloppy balancing act isn't it?

Debate: "It is the duty of the government to fund the arts". Do you agree/disagree?We Answered:
I believe that, yes, the government should most defiantly support the arts. Think of it this way, "Money and War over Love and Arts, what is the right decision?"The government needs to put funding into those who stand for what they believe in and to try and help the GFC by helping those who cant afford University/Collage, to be able to go & study what they love.
