Hence the home health care boom. Go back, here, 50 years or so when Howard Hughes invented corporations. First, the healthcare system in America was Dr. ? making a housecall and billing you (or the family) for his services. Now advance into the insurance and technology age. More specifically, billing software. Most people don't realize what a disaster itemizing health care has been. Healthcare funding from the gov. has to come from somwhere, right? Then where....hmm can we say taxes? And let me emphasize the gov. allocates this money to other programs because the taxes they charge isn't enough to cover the care anyway. Let me summarize. Dr. ? see's patient ?. Patient ? doesn't make enough income for affordable health care, so they rely on insurance company X. Problem is that insurance company X analizes death causes and medical problems by cross referencing hospital software and DOES NOT cover the majority of health care problems people are faced with. Law suits for medical malpractice enters this equation so a physician either only covers what HIS insurance carriers cover or he practices outside of the US. People are finally catching on, taking time off work for care in different countries for 1/3 of the price. The cash flow goes elsewhere (outside the borders of the US) so the gov. just can't afford community care.Alan Said:

The "projects" aren't anything like they use to be. In order for people to get into government housing now,they have to prove they have no criminal record. They don't just let anyone in as they use to in the past. These are poor people who need an affordable place to live. Some may be elderly or handicapped. They aren't going to destroy your community.You can have the neighbors sign petitions and fight it with city hall. But,in the end,you will lose.
If you don't want people who you obviously feel are beneath you living in your neighborhood,perhaps you should move. Being non understanding swings both ways.
