What are some good fund raising ideas for a small non profit org. that helps recovering sustance abusers? We Answered:
Individuals are the largest source of fund raising for non profit organizations. Please work out your requirement of funds and depending on this you can decide the area of donors to be drafted. Please give ample coverage to the works being carried out by your organization and ensure that this message reaches all the prospective donors. Please involve all the donors in way or other in your works. A sense of involvement of the donors is the key to your success of fund raising !Joe Said:
Looking for some creative and profitable fund-raising ideas for Non-Profit Animal Shelter.?We Answered:
The local humane society here has a "Pennies for Puppies" campaign every year in order to raise money to have dogs spayed and neutered. They live big pickle jars in all the vets offices and other places in town. They advertise it on the radio, newspaper, etc and it seems to raise a lot of money. If you need money quick, this would be a great time of year for a community-wide yard sale.
Maybe a walk-a-thon. Get people to sponsor a dog and have a volunteer to take the dog on a walk. Every however many minutes he's walked, he gets X amount of dollars, pennies, whatever from all the sponsors.
Or how bout selling calendars that has pictures of some of the pets in your shelter. I'm sure you could buy some software that would help you create the calendar, and then get some paper in bulk from a Staples, Office Depot or some place like that. Heck, they might even donate everything if you promise to put a sales plug in for them on the calendar.
I believe showing pictures of the animals or showing the actual animals in whatever fundraiser you do is paramount. Let the people see that, hey, these are real animals that need their help.
The local Target here in town has pictures of the local shelter animals at the front of the store, too. Maybe you could do something like that and ask them to put jars at the checkouts with pictures of the animals. Just a few thoughts.
Maybe even a doggie and kitty fashion show. Let people from the community come to show off their pet, and they pay an entrance fee to enter, and maybe you could get local stores to donate prizes.
Or a pet parade around a local park. Same idea: people from the community bring out their pets, you and you bring some from the shelter. They can either pay an entrance fee and/or you could have local vendors who pay to set up there.
You could do a silent auction too. The item goes to the highest bidder!
Good luck!

Why fund raising is difficult for a non-profit organization? We Answered:
There's only so much money going around and every charity has a hand out. Quite a few organizations already raised and are raising funds for the benefit of tsunami victims. You are competing with them for funds which are, in effect, going to the same target population. This may not be necessary, nor in the best interest of actually helping the victims. Besides you state you are going to start a non-profit. If you haven't yet established your organization and don't have a clear mission statement and descriptions on how you are best going to acchieve your goals, no wonder you are finding fund raising quite difficult. Most donors prefer to contribute to already established organizations with a track record of performance.Jeanette Said:

I am fund-raising for non profit org. and need to know what food companies will donate for an event.?We Answered:
Your local fast food and restaurants usually like to get involved in these types of activities. Check with the local managers of your neighborhood restaurants and coffee shops. In events that I've done, McDonalds and other fast food restaurants have donated to various causes by providing coolers, ice and beverages.
In another recent event, some of the local Starbucks donated food and beverages as well.
You can also check with local supermarkets, etc. Many of these organizations provide goods and services at the discretion of the general manager for local community-related events.
Good luck!

You can also consider to turn the organisation into a social enterprise and shift the focus away from fundraising to service delivery. Think about products or services that could be sold in order to bring in some income, that could in turn be used to support the programmes in some way.We can only receive if we know how to give...
