Check your local telephone directory, rather than go for a big charity (Banardos etc not that they dont need your help!) find a small local one that would struggle more.Its refreshing to see a company do something like this, good luck x

That's a clincher isn't it, the fund is set up to bring Madeleine home, punish the people responsible, provide financial assistance for the family, THEN, any surplus MAY be used to help other lost children in Portugal, or, elsewhere.There is NO mention of any donations to charity at all, the fund directors would eventually decide, but there may be control issues, as the "foundation" is set up as limited company, and the trademark is designed to allow it to provide information and help, at a cost to other parents, so, it could simply just change itself into a centre for resources, paying the directors a handsome salary if it wished.

I agree. I don't think it is such a great idea if it is done they way the McCanns do it. Of course, I feel terribly sorry for parents who lost their children. There can’t be anything worse but all the media hustle about Madeleine for example and the fund need to be taken into perspective. Every day thousands of children die or get missing and for 99% of them not much attention is paid. Are they any less worth? Is a doctor’s child any more worth? I believe it is unfair that only children who happen to live in a country where media finds interest in broadcasting about their disappearance. For the money that has been collected for Madeleine probably hundreds of, for example children’s lives in Africa could have been saved.Josephine Said:

I don't think there is a charity fund for children with esotropia in Singapore, but we do have a charity fund for children in Singapore.At Singapore Children's Society, we help protect and nurture children and youth of all races and religions, especially those who are abused, neglected, and/or from dysfunctional families. Each year we reach out to about 12,000 children, youth and families in need.

Yes, they do use the donations to help people, but they do not do anything to solve the underlying problems.My grandmother saved a child through this charity when grandma was 20 years old. My mother saved the three children that were born because of it. When I was 20, all of those children had grown up, and had starving children of their own. I now had nine children to save.
All nine of those children have now grown up, and had three babies each. You, my friend, now have 27 starving children to save. It never ends!
Your money will be better spent on a charity that provides books or educational material to people so they can learn to help themselves.

I have no problem giving to a charity such as St. Jude's Children's Medical Research Center because they have an excellent rating (the vast majority of money raised goes directly to the programs) and they do good work. I did stop donating to World Vision after they sent me a letter asking for $75 to save a child from "the disease of atheism" (their words, not mine). They wanted $75 to buy one child a Bible and set them up with a "teacher". This is the same amount of money it takes to buy a family a goat so that they will have fresh milk. Guess which one my money will be sent to fund.
