What happen's if my FA forgot to execute a transaction of an exchange in mutual funds 6 month ago?

We Answered:

You're chances of any retribution is slim to none.

Yes there are rules that protect you BUT not in the case you have described. The rules state that you must receive or have available a confirmation of all transactions, within twenty four hours of the trade. Also in the past several months, you have been receiving statements or they were available to you, and the "missing" trades did not appear in your account. The rule is that the firm must provide you with or make available to you, a detailed statement of your account at least quarterly.

It appears there was a misunderstanding about your instructions to your FA, and you should have followed up within two days of the "supposed" transactions.

The results of your claim is also dependent on the number of transactions you have made with the firm, your overall experience you have in making investments and the length of time you have been with the firm. If this was your first transaction, you may have a case (very slight) but if you have some experience with investing, the snow ball has a better chance.
The same rules that protect you also protect the firm by mandating that they provide confirmation of transactions and detailed statements of your account's activities..

Rather than bring your case to YA, you should have presented first to the FA, then to the company since they are the ones to properly resolve your problem.
There are some of use here on YA that have extension experience in such matters but we'll be providing you with responses that you may not like to hear.
Based on experience, you should submit your claim in writing to the FA with a copy to the firm's compliance officer (you submit it to the branch manager).

One responder stated that you should contact a lawyer. In your new account agreement, it states that alll discrepeancies, and claims will be handled by aritration , which means must present you case, in writing, to FINRA or the exchange, depending on the firm's memberships. Getting a lawyer at this point in time would be costly.

"latin american fund A" any predictions?

We Answered:

Hello Frank,,,
Not Advice ,,only an opinion.

Almost any Lat-Am Fund you look at will display
Long-ish Term HISTORICAL Strength and even some accelerated Upward Momentum From about This time of year,,,until year end.

That Suggests to Wait a while longer.

Here is what I'm basing that observation upon.
Look at end-of-year action.

http://www.morningstar.co.uk/UK/snapshot…

(USA Traded ETF funds)
NYSE: ILF,,,LAQ,,,,EWZ
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=EWZ%20IL…

Just a random sampling that reflect "Typical" Fund Composition

You can see that they have HISTORICALLY run rather Solidly until at least Late November,Early December.

In Recent Years,,,a Small Sell-Off Dip can be seen Just Before Year End.
But it has been Small,Brief,,,and met with Solid Buying Action to continue & support a Longer Term Uptrend.

Over LONG Term,,,,it appears to clearly be a HOLD
In IMMEDIATE Term,,,,it seems a HOLD as well

Bumpy or Not,,,I beleive it has More Upside thru next 6 to 8 weeks.

One Strategy:
ANTICIPATE the eventual Correction in Price.
Watch and LOOK for that Year End Dip.
Hold on for some TIME,,,then as year end approaches Prepare to SELL.

DONT Fall for a Head-Fake Dip THIS WEEK.
Bide your time,,a BIT.
Then towards year-end You can begin to Assume that Any Dip is THE DIP,,,and Sell along with it

If Your Timing is NOT PERFECT,,,and It Wont be,,,,
You'll be much, much Closer to "perfect timing".

Because Latin America has such a strong outlook/forecast,,,,
You'll want to Buy it Back when it settles down after it's temporary correction.

WHEN to do so is more useful, and less stressful,,than trying to Guess Price Point.
a)It will NOT stay Down long
b)So,,anytime AFTER a substantial Dip followed by a few days of selling,,,,and Small "Reluctant-appearing" BUYING
is a reasonable indication that the Expected Year-End Dip
has happened.

Simply put,,,
Anticipate the Year End Historical pattern to Reccur.
You Can't Perfectly Time your EXIT,nor Your Re-entry Perfectly.
Perhaps not even Accurately.
But you absolutely CAN do it CORRECTLY.

Sell HIGH>>Re-Buy LOW almost Anywhere Straddling that Year End Dip.

Me personally would Not wait for Clear & Solid Uptrend Confirmation.

I doubt You can get Hurt at all.
Worst Case is that You'll MISS a little of the Full Total Move,,,Which is NORMAL,,,
or that You'd have to wait a bit longer After the Buying-The-Dip a bit too early

You can also Monitor a variety of similar/comparable Stocks/Funds to get a better clue on Timing.

Latin America is STRONG,,,you really don't have to work too hard at it in order to get satisfactory results.

All just my opinion

Good Luck

Are these Latin American mutual funds still a good investment for a few years?

We Answered:

Latin America is a great play. But I would go with the ETF's like ADRE and EWZ. They are easier to sell and have lower expense rations. Long term on LA!
